Whenever I've relied on luck to make things happen for me, nothing good ever did. I try to make my own luck, control my own life, and things work out a lot better. Instead of thinking I got that great job because I was lucky, I know I got it because I was prepared, intelligent and motivated. I bring me luck.

My cat, Akasha, naturally! I've raised her since she was about 4 days old, before her eyes had even opened and we are inseparable. We survived the Fargo-Moorhead flood of 2000 in a basement apartment and lost only a couple of extension cords and a bag of plastic bags to the raising water (big loss there! ;P ). We were able to break that lease _and_ find a better apartment for the next year. It was with the 'sha that I was able to find the next/current apartment where we are today. She was there for me when I had to have emergency surgery- never leaving my side for the two weeks of recovery. No matter how bad my paycheck is, I always have enough for my stupid bills as long as I've bought pet food first! THAT is luck.
